Laser Assisted Dentistry and Gum Therapy
- Lasers have revolutionized dental care. Our progressive dentists use the Waterlase MD to perform soft and hard tissue surgical procedures comfortably and with precision and accuracy.
- Soft tissue laser surgeries are performed with reduced chance of infection, swelling and bleeding. This allows for a pain free and rapid recovery. Ask us about permanent cold sore and canker removal with the Waterlase MD laser.
- Hard tissue surgeries can often be performed without anesthetic. This includes the removal of decay. The accuracy of the laser allows the conservation of healthy tissue structure with precise elimination of only the diseased tooth structure.
Canker sores (aka aphthous ulcers) are recurring small sores inside and outside the mouth. They have a white or gray base surrounded by a red border. They generally last one to two weeks, but with the use of the Waterlese laser supplemented with antimicrobial mouthwashes or topical agents they can help them resolve sooner.
Adding cultured foods in your diet (ie. yogurt, sauerkraut, etc.) can help prevent cankers. A mineral-rich diet also prevents cankers (Ie. plenty of salads, lots of raw and cooked vegetables, and whole grains). Avoid high arginine foods, such as coffee, peanut butter, nuts, seeds, corn, red meats, caffeine, refined and fried foods, sugars, and sweet fruits. Plenty of sleep and rest can be helpful to prevent cankers.
Cold Sores are recurrent lesions caused by a virus. They frequently occur along the lips but can occur inside the mouth as well. Once you get the virus, it usually will come back in the same spot. The virus can be spread to other locations on the lips by touching the infected area with the fingers or the tongue. The Waterlase MD can permanently kill the virus and prevent it from occurring in the same area again.
